Today is remembrance day and in honour of that I present that which I do on such occasions, a minutes silence and this;

The Ode
The Ode comes from For the Fallen, a poem by the English poet and writer Laurence Binyon and was published in London in the Winnowing Fan; Poems of the Great War in 1914. The verse, which became the League Ode was already used in association with commemoration services in Australia in 1921.
FOR THE FALLEN
With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children
England mourns for her dead across the sea,
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.
Solemn the drums thrill: Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,
There is music in the midst of desolation
And glory that shines upon our tears.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow,
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
They mingle not with their laughing comrades again,
They sit no more at familiar tables of home,
They have no lot in our labour of the daytime,
They sleep beyond England’s foam.
But where our desires and hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the night.
As the stars shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain,
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.
Dad, why did they build the great wall of China?
Well… uhm.. you see it was in the year of emperor Nazi Gori… they built it too keep the rabbits out. Too many rabbits in China…

On a side note I’ve decided this will be an ordinary blog because while I can talk about religion all day.. meh.
Anyone who knows me would know I’m of the opinion that everyone, every religion, every race etc can get along but just won’t. We all make mistakes, we all do stupid things, we all act like complete arses. Plain and simple.
I was looking at PaganNews.Com a moment ago and found this article by Laura. Now not to christian bash, because I believe this applies to all religions but people who do one thing and say another are far to common for my liking. It’s not right, it’s not fair. It’s one, big, fat lie.
Why don’t people get along? Well for starters ALL of us are too proud/stubborn/etc and ridicule a person at least once in life merely because of what they are or what they do or believe in. We may not do it all the time, but isn’t once bad enough?
I may not agree with a lot of people, but I’m not going to (usually) harrass them for the simple fact that I disagree. If I do or have, I am sorry.
I look at this world in the hope to see compassionate, loving, caring human beings but I don’t always look upon it and find such things. The world has turned into a company, proffessional, uncaring and out for personal gain.
Do you want to live like that?
I have come to a decision about what this blog can be usefully used for. As thus I have decided to make it a place for my learnings in religion.
Simply put I am a witch. Wiccan, not a devil worshipper by any standard. I neither believe or acknowlege him, he’s a christian/jewish/insert religion here problem and they can deal with him. ’nuff said.
And in the words of Margot Alder:
“We are not evil. We don’t harm or seduce people. We are not dangerous. We are ordinary people like you. We have families, jobs, hopes, and dreams. We are not a cult. This religion is not a joke. We are not what you think we are from looking at T.V. We are real. We laugh, we cry. We are serious. We have a sense of humor. You don’t have to be afraid of us. We don’t want to convert you. And please don’t try to convert us. Just give us the same right we give you–to live in peace. We are much more similar to you than you think.”
Please keep an open mind when exploring the pages and posts of this blog. I am not here to convert you, do me the same favor. I’m simply not interested and you would be wasting your time.
‘Silver Naidra’ is my craft or magical name it is a name that jumped out at me when I first came across it. Silver is a colour of the Goddess and Naidra is a word associated with water, which is the element that calls to me. If this does sound strange you may want to take a look around as a lot of what I’m explaining on here (though I make this site this as I learn) could at least answer the basics. However as I am a solitary witch, not associated with any coven I have no ‘lineage’ as it’s called. That would involve being trained and thus initiated into a coven. I am also not all knowing by any stardard nor am I incapable of mistakes. Wicca, as I see it is a path (as should be all spiritual faiths) which no one can decide by you. If it doesnt feel right, don’t do it. Pure and simple. Everything on this site is to do with my belief system and will not nessicarily work for you. Just find your own way. You’ll find your home eventually. I did, and the first time I called myself a witch it felt like the most beautiful thing in the world. I was home.
Oh and if anything seems back to front it’s because I’m from Australia. (Hence the blog’s name, “The Wiccan Witch of the South”)
Blessed be!
