Nudes.

I was just surfing around wordpress, something I tend to do when I get bored and I found this post.

While I’m not at all shocked by this behaviour, I am rather bothered that people can find nudity in art (not to mention nudity in general) offencive. Everyone has a body, there are two types of body and most people are aware what the other sex looks like, there should be no offence to something so common. Are people offended by air now? There is often times more sexual innuendo in the media then there is in the majority of artwork put together. The human form has been painted many, many a time as has it been photographed, drawn, idolised, carved in any number of solid substances and yet they find a statue offencive?

Yes, I admit there are a growing amount of prudes in this world but the human body, no matter what size, shape or colour is a not disgrace. The human body is just that, the human body, something we all use, we all need, and it will always be around. Get used to it folks.

As an artist I am very much offended that people find artistic nudes offencive and I doubt the child was in any which way traumatised, I’m betting the parents were the ones offended and traumatised.

Sigh.
